BIOGRAPHY

My work consists of drawing, video, computer programming, readymade, collaboration and installation. I am interested in philosophy, science, sociality, meditation, politics and computers. The role of the artist is to be present, mindful and playful in the act of creation.

I was raised on a kitsch diet of bad 80s and 90s American, British and Australian TV, pop music and video games for which I cannot help enjoying still. My teens were spent playing video games, skateboarding, smoking pot and avoiding the mind-numbing of high school (1990 - 1996). After which, I attempted to be an independent artist with no training. I ended up as a builder's labourer renovating shitty apartments.

At the start of the Y2K I went to TAFE for a Certificate IV in Visual Art (2000-2001) at Box Hill Institute. After which I completed a Bachelor of Fine Art - Drawing (2002-2004) at the Victorian College of the Art (VCA). Upon ending my undergraduate study I immediately went to Tokyo (2005) to make art and teach English. When I got back, I did an Honours year (2006) and then a Masters of Fine Art (2007-2008) at the VCA. Then I went to live in Beijing with a Red Gate Gallery residency. This turned into 2 years (2010-2012) of living in, working and travelling around China.

Since I have returned to Melbourne to have a daughter Francesca with my wife Jo. I work at Redbubble (2015-present) - continue to develop Artbox.io (2013-present) and use every spare moment making art and loving my family.
